~3.5 sGPA
MCAT score of 509 (129/126/126/128).

I am currently a Sophmore (going into junior year)
I have a gpa of 3.11 and I got a C/C+ in Ochem 1 and 2, Im really worried. I hope to get a 3.7 (give or take a little by the time I graduate, and Im studying to get a really good mcat score, or at least above average. What else should I be doing to help give myself a better chance for med school? Should I retake the ochem classes? (granted, it wont be replaced in my gpa, but would it help?)

Previously Academically dismissed. What are my chances and schools to apply to?

Hello, I am posting to receive advice on which schools to apply to as I am an unconventional student. A brief story is, I was academically dismissed from my previous undergraduate school with 1.40 GPA due to depression. Since then I went to local community college and transferred to a top 25 four-year university. Through my academic dismissal, I learned how to study and realized my genuine desire to go to medical school. I am an Asian-American California resident. Father is a MD-PH.D from a...

Hello, everyone. So I dread posting this, but I would like to see what the opinions of others are before I make any final decisions. I am a first generation Mexican student as well as can speak Spanish fluently. I am an Illinois resident. I have gotten a 3.79cGPA, a 3.7 sGPA and about a 497 MCAT. I scored about a 122 in the CARS section (I have no idea how to improve this if I retake) Here are my extracurriculars:

I am at a crossroads as to whether or not I should retake the MCAT or apply as-is.

cGPA: 3.5 (3.7 if any schools honor grade replacement)
sGPA: 3.2 (3.4 if grade replacement), decent upward trend (I had one horrible semester during my senior year)
MCAT: 503, balanced score

Everything else on my application is strong - not exceptional, but strong. Plenty of clinical hours (scribing, interpreting). Extracurricular involvement at school including leadership positions. Tons of non clinical...

Hey! I made a thread a few days ago about my first school list, but I added/removed schools and would like to know what you guys think about my current school list. I added as many "target" schools as possible, but I'm worried I do not have enough "safeties." I based my list on MSAR, LizzyM, and ProspectiveDoctor. If y'all could provide insight, that would be marvelous :)

Options besides osteopathic school

I have 2 BS degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Psychology. I graduated with a 2.33 at some point my hope was to go to osteopathic school. Now it seems like a far reach with my gpa. I am considering going back to a community college to get my ASN then maybe find a RN-BSN program. I worked as a CNA in high school and I enjoyed the nursing side of the healthcare field. I guess my question is should I give up on my dream for DO school?

Hello, everyone. I am now a senior in college applying to med school this summer. From my research and understanding, I would be a better fit for DO schools. I really don't have a preference to one or the other. Let me know your thoughts and if you think I would have a good shot at DO or MD. Thanks!

What are my chances for getting into medical school?

So I wanted to know what you guys thought my chances were at getting into medical schools? So I have a 3.18 GPA (science GPA is around the same) with an upward trend after a poor first two years. I know this is really awful and is probably lethal for MD schools but I just want to know if there's anyway I get in. I'm pending MCAT scores, so I don't know my scores yet. I've taken 5 FL practice tests, 2 AAMC official ones and then 3 Kaplan tests. I don't wanna assume too much but based on my...

I understand that it's a requirement to have at least two letters of recommendation from a science professor, but I didn't really get to know any professor that well so...how bad is it that I don't have any letters of recommendation from a science professor? I have one that is willing to write one for me but it was a pass or fail class, so he didn't even assign me a grade. How screwed am I? What can I do with my situation? Need help.

Just wondering what my chances are to get into an MD or DO school. My main worry is the fact that I'm Canadian and that I've taken the MCAT 3 times. Although, I have heard that private schools that accepts internationals or Canadians still put us on the same playing field as Americans. Not sure how true that is?

My GPA the last 2 years have been 3.93 and 3.81, so not sure if this would help?

My school lists are:

Awful freshman year grades

I'm calculating my final grades for the year and I'm honestly scared I've killed my chances at mid-range (e.g. BU or Tufts) medical schools. First semester I dropped my bio class because I didn't want Bs on my transcript (I realize this was a stupid mistake) and only took three classes, all of which I received a B+ in. This semester, I took an upper level humanities class that I might get a B+/A- in and another English class which might have similar grades but I'm going to get a B in my bio...

Hi Everyone:

I plan to apply this cycle for admission in the Fall of 2018. I graduated from a large state university in May 2014 with a degree in Cell and Mol. Bio and a minor in physics. So far, I have worked in a cancer research lab at a major Boston hospital. Moved to Mass, although for most of my life was a RI resident

MCAT:

Took it with little studying in May 2013 and received a 26 (8PS/8V/10BS).
Re-take in March 2017 and received a 508, unbalanced though (530 on the Psych/Soc, 527...
