Im sort of looking for input on MD schools to apply to, ive already submitted my primary to 12 DO schools but if i had a chance at some MD id like to apply! I have 3 pubs, all in major journals (Impact factor of 18), lots of shadowing amd some good ECs. I have a list of canadian friendly MD schools but based on my stats what MD schools would i be competitive for if i was american? Thanks

This is yet again another freshman with anxiety spiking towards the roof. I, unfortunately, have a horrid history when it comes to studying and not knowing how to take proper notes. Due to this, my GPA is a 3.0 as a Bio and English Dual Major. I know this may not sound horrible as most GPA's but I am still a freshman with enough chances to screw up and would prefer to avoid that possibility.

I would like to raise my GPA to a 3.7 and I know that will require tons of work and only A's,...

I had a question regarding on what to consider my MCAT score. My first score was a 497 (126/122/124/125) and my second score was 507 (128/124/127/128). For making my school list do I average the two and make that my MCAT (502) or use the better score? Currently, I've been assuming they would take the better/more recent score but I saw on other threads that I should be averaging. Thanks!

Hey! I'm going to be majoring in nutritional science next year at UT and I was wondering what your experiences with this major have been. I'm really interested in nutrition and I feel like it's relatively easier than Chemistry or Biology major. Was the coursework hard?

I just got my grade I got 89.14%, and received B+. I asked professor to round up my grade, he said no.
I'm kind of frustrated now. I'm not sure if I should keep this grade or retake it.

Can you give me some advice??

here is my list of info!
GPA: 3.76
MCAT: 497
Research: 2 years (stroke injury rehabilitation) and 1 year public health related. I spent at least over 900 hours total committed to research. Jobs: medical assistant (current), college mentor (1 year), course assistant (2 years).
Letters of rec: one from dean/ochem professor, one from research educator, one from non-science professor and lastly other research educator. I also have my biology professor writing me one just in case the others...

Hello SDN,

I actually got my MCAT score yesterday and did pretty decent. The only thing I'm worried about is my sGPA of ~3.1 (used a calculator I found in the forum) Which schools should I be aiming for? Should I just go by my cGPA?

Hi guys! I recently finished my junior year like a week ago and I'm planning on taking my MCAT August 11 which gives me 12 weeks of studying! Then I will be applying as soon as my scores come back! I've only shadowed a plastic surgeon and my family doctor for like 50+ hours total. Am I wasting my time applying? Should I get my masters first? My GPA is a 3.6 and I plan on scoring an MCAT of 515. Looked around and couldn't find much regarding my situation, so here goes:

- CA resident, 1/2 hispanic
- Very strong desire to practice rural/underserved medicine (from a majority hispanic, rural area of CA)

Hi guys! I have my MCAT tomorrow, and I'd really appreciate some advice on if I should void or not.

3.5c, 3.4s with strong upward trend. Decent EC's, such as CNA at hospital, founding a club, minimal research. Have a LOR from a DO.

Hey everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I just received my MCAT score today, and I'm pretty bummed. This was the break down:

Chem/Phys: 126 (68%)
CARS: 122 (25%...sheesh)
Bio/Biochem: 127 (78%)
Psych/Soc: 127 (78%)

With my GPA in consideration, would I get screened out with this score? I took the MCAT in June of 2015, and received an awful 497 (42%). I was determined to improve my CARS section, so I took a gap year and took the test again on May 20th. With only an 18% increase...

Some are saying I have a great app and then I go on sdn and see people with similar stats and tons of leadership/research being told that they need crazy unique life events to get into top 20s, so I'd appreciate any feedback! I have 18 schools so far and really would not like to add more due to cost, so let me know if there are any obvious schools on my list to exclude/replace.
