SMP GPA 3.58, ok?

$

This question is mainly directed @Goro because I have seen you quote a GPA target for SMP's. My final GPA (due to an unexpected A- in one class) in a well known SMP is a 3.58. I have seen you say that a 3.6 + is what people should be aiming for, and at the risk of sounding stupid, I was wondering if my GPA being slightly below that would still be okay - that is, as long as the rest of my application looks good.

I have not yet taken the MCAT but know what I should be...

Hey guys,

So far in the application process I've tried to stay away from forums and such and instead just wait to hear back from the schools I applied to, but I'm starting to get more and more nervous about it and would love some feedback on my chances.

I'm currently a senior biology major and chemistry/neuroscience double minor at Wake Forest University, and in addition to my GPA/MCAT which I listed in the thread title, I have strong leadership experience, research experience, good...

Ok so hey guys! I just finished my mcat a couple of days ago (5/13 was brutal to be honest) and now I'm just getting my application finished and trying to finalize my school list before the time comes up.
Background: Just finished Undergrad in Life Sciences, AA- Canadian male, Low SES (trying not to spend too much in my applications tbh)
GPA: cGPA: 3.71 sGPA: 3.5 (Strong upward trend 3.9-4.0 last 3 years, first year got me a little bit o_O)

1 C+ in Cell Bio

I ended up with a C+ in my freshman second semester cell bio course. All my other grades, (including my math, first semester biology, and chemistry courses) are B+'s and above for my freshman year. My overall GPA is a 3.58 and my sGPA is a 3.56. Will this one C+ affect my chances of getting into Medical School? Will medical schools not even consider my application if I make sure that this one grade is my first and last bad grade for the rest of my undergrad years?

When I calculate my gpa with Amcas calculator, my gpa goes down to 3.64. It might go down more. I wanted to apply for md school, now I'm not sure what to do. I think 3.6 gpa is too low for Asian applicant and from low reputation school..

I'm a nontraditional student- I've been working for the past 2 years since finishing school as an ICU nurse. I was going to wait and apply next year when I can get my GPA up for MD level competition but my MCAT gave me a thread of hope. WAMC? (LizzyM score = 72.4)

I had a terrible first year, finished the last 2 years with just about straight A's in a Nursing Science degree; all my BCMPs were essentially in my first year hence the terrible sGPA.

HELP! Chances of Getting In to DO school

Hello All,

I know this topic has been beaten down by every other premed out here, but its driving me nuts and I have to get some opinions.

I really want to apply DO in the 2016 cycle but I am not sure if it would be worth it given my stats. Of course, the other option would be Carib, but I would like to avoid the hassle if possible.

Here are my stats:

Metrics:
Undergrad GPA - 3.3/3.4 with a 4.0 in my major (Anthropology)
Masters GPA - So far, 3.6 but I am just...

A lot of B/B+'s in my classes. Oddly enough orgo was the only class I got A's in (and a LOR ). slight downward trend but not major

I am very smart but a little lazy - I want to go to a good research school - UNC would be great. In state, 511 MCAT, 3.6c/3.5s

Personal Info:
I am currently a 4th year undergrad at UT Austin. I currently have a science GPA of 2.7, and a cumulative GPA of 3.34. I had received 2 Fs, 3 Cs, and 1 D for my basic sciences courses (Physics 1, BIO 1 and 2, CHEM 1 and 2) early on during my 2nd and 3rd year of undergrad and had semester GPAs ranging from 1.6 to 2.6. I had retaken some of the basic science courses and did not improve by much, often going from a D to a C during those two years. However, I had received a...

Good afternoon everyone, this is my first post on SDN and I've been reading these forums for quite a while now. I just finished my 3rd year undergrad at RU New Brunswick, this year's GPA was a 3.1, as opposed to god awful 1.5's and 2s the first two years. I struggled my first two years with rough living conditions and some health issues, as well as just an overall lack in academic performance. Due to this I failed a few core requirement classes. I have since changed my environment and I am...

Hello kind people,

So my cGPA after this semester is 3.77, Science GPA is a 3.75, I got a 517 on my practice MCAT, so I am assuming something like a 515. I have very strong leadership experience, about 250 hours of research, a little over 100 hours of non-clinical volunteering, no clinical volunteering (I will begin this summer but will not likely put it on this application), I have some shadowing, lots of experience in public health outreach (paid), experience teaching first aid, CPR, and...

Clinical-3000 hours (half are future counted, up until Aug 2018, is that bad?) working as a cardiology tech. Really high quality experience. 50 hours hospital volunteering with good contact.
